Chicken Point Cabin

Chicken Point Cabin, located on the edge of Lake Hayden in northern Idaho, is comprised of three basic forms, a concrete shell, a steel fireplace from Alaskan oil pipeline, and a plywood insert, It is hard-edged and a little defiant, the idea for the cabin is that of a lakeside shelter hidden in the woods, a little hideaway perhaps, — a little box with a big window that opens to the surronding landscape, The cabin’s big window-wall (30 feet by 20 feet) opens the entire living space to the forest and lake, talking about a door perhaps, the massive tilt up picture window frames the lake and mountains, one way or another, bits of color and a thick area rug draw the eye without competing with the views of nature, and this suprising cabin is one of Architect’s Tom Kundig’s designs, mostly his designs are strinkingly modern boxy, and simple… let’s have a view on his creation, shall we?
