American Idol was not Steven’s “cup of tea”, I think he just did it , for two sesasons because of Aerosmith’s troubles, It was something to do while the storm blew by” he said, Tyler joined “American Idol” in 2010 after Simon Cowell did leave for X-Factor and Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres left the series, Tyler and Jennifer Lopez joined the veterean judge Randy Jackson for Seasons 10 and 11, he announced his departure in a press statement during July 2012 , he also had some long hard thoughts, and he already decided to re-open his band again Aerosmith with his new single, legendary child, “I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door in my hand” he said, definitely it was not his “cup of tea”, He also had difficulty on judging contestants though , he made a nice chunk of change from the series but his heart wasn’t in it . “I love it and hated it” he said, it was a moment larger than my life, “The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent,” Tyler said “They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. That’s not what I’m about. ”
Not to be out-shined by her former co-star Aerosmith front man, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez announced last July 12 that she, too, would be leaving American Idol. Unlike Tyler who wants to spend more time with his legendary band, Lopez looks to acting as her latest projects. I do miss doing films. I feel like the last two years with American Idol, I’ve really, really focused on, you know, my music” According to the official Jennifer Lopez website, it’s with mixed emotions that the star leaves the show. “It’s just been a really long, tough process, I really have been torn. When I signed on to Idol , I signed on to do one year. I ended up doing two years because I just fell so in love with the show . I never felt so much part of a family of something working on it as I did with Idol. I didn’t know I’d be so moved emotionally. It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it. But even last year, it was super tough to decide. I have my movies and my music and my this and my that. It all kind of worked together for a while. But it gets complicated. Something has to give. And I think that’s where I am right now.”
Her long term focus may be on reviving her acting career but J.Lo still has a world tour to start and finish. The kickoff for the Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez tour began on July 14 in Canada and had ended on November 22 in Dubai… That’s a lot of singing and dancing!
Mariah Carey had join “American Idol” as a judge next season, bringing her star power to the show that remains a ratings leader but has seen its viewership and
pop culture status diminish. “I am so excited to be joining ‘Idol,’” said Carey.. She couldn’t be on hand with the group because “this kind of all just happened really quickly,” Carey said in her brief remarks. I can’t wait to get started in the fall … and I will see you in January.”
The show, which saw judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez exit at the end of last season, will be back on the air for season 12 in January. “the biggest recording artist that any of these (talent) shows has ever had,” adding that she was the “artist that many of these contestants have tried to emulate, have tried some of the songs, have tried to hit the notes.” she said.
Rapper Nicki Minaj and country star Keith Urban are to be judges on the next series of American Idol. The duo replace Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith singer Steve Tyler, both of whom quit earlier this year. Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson complete the line-up on the pr
ogramme, which has been suffering falling ratings. Audience’s for this year’s series – the eleventh – were down about 30% on 2011. The season finale drew 21.5 million viewers, a record low, to see Phillip Phillips win. Therefore, the appointment of Minaj is likely to be of key importance to Fox, who will hope to draw in a younger, hipper audience.
The Show now faces competition from the likes of The Voice and X Factor US, which boast Cee-Lo Green, Britney Spears, Adam Levine and Simon Cowell on their judging panel.
